5-Back in Black- By AC/DC this song truly brings out the power of rock. A great Beat, amazing lyrics, and awesome everything, this song is one that will be stuck in your head...for maybe even a few weeks. Who can deny this is a good song? If you hate it, well that's your problem.

Bananas

Some one (go julie!) suggested for me to write about bananas, so i will. They are long and yellow, and pretty yummy. especially in cereal or oatmeal. sometimes they are green if not ripe, and sometimes they are just not good because you don't feel like eating a banana at the time. So, remember- have fun and GO BANANAS!!!

Great songs Before 2000

4-I am the Walrus by the Beatles sure- of course you can say you love the Beatles, and of course you can buy a Beatles shirt from Kohl's, but do you REALLY know the Beatles? I am the walrus is one song that absolutely makes NO SENSE AT ALL (Neither does Lucy in the sky with diamonds, but whatever!) but then again, the best songs make no sense. I just love I am the Walrus, because it is just so amazingly great! Nothing compares to this song with awesome lyrics, awesome singers, and awesome everything. Long live the Beatles!

Great songs Before 2000

3. Walk this way by aerosmith- I bet you there is NO ONE who doesn't love this song! (i also bet you no one can sing all of the super fast lyrics!) This song was also in Vh1 best songs countdown (so was Smells like Teen Spirit), and I know i could spend MINUTES no, HOURS dancing/listening/attempting to sing this song. (My friend Grace could agree- we've spent a long time doing those things!! We've also done a music video to Smells like TeenSpirit, so check out Grace's YouTube page, Graceisthecoolest) With the great guitar riff from walk this way sounding in the back round, GOODBYE!!

Love Like Woe by The Ready Set

This mostly unknown song has got fans in a frenzy- the more you hear it, the more you want it. Radio stations like FM 97.3, 103.7, and 99.1, have started playing this song more and more, and as time goes on more people learn about this song! I give this song 4 stars, and i hope more songs are created by the new band "the ready set". This band really can express emotions thru this song, and i love how the song is both catchy and fun. The music video for this song (which is cool too) is FREE on itunes until tomorrow, so get it before time runs out! Who would have known that this small band could have fame and popularity in so little time.
When i first heard this song, i wondered who was singing it. Was it the lead singer from Owl City? (as my mom guessed-) Justin Beiber? (crazy, isn't it?) well, it was none other than the fabulous Ready Set! Many people like this type of music and i have a feeling this song will become really popular in the next few weeks. I also think that this song is probably a great new opportunity for "the Ready Set"'s career. (just how Tik Tok made Ke$ha famous) Who, knows, maybe "love like Woe" will be a one hit wonder, but then again, so was Ice Ice Baby, My Sharona, hot hot hot, walking on sunshine, safety dance, and the macarena. I just love this song-and i really hope the ready set will have more songs in the future!

NEWS UPDATE!!!

Today, while watching MTV, they had an episode called "100 greatist artists of all time!" I'm glad to announce that Nirvana (One band from the best songs before 2000)was ranked #14 of all time! unfortunatley, Vanilla Ice (another band from best songs before 2000)was not put in the top 100, but i know that he would be at least in the top 50 for "one hit wonders." Congrats, Nirvana!

Science Fiction Museum (and rock museum) in Seattle, WA

Ever been to Seattle? If you have, you know how great it is- the space needle, car boat, Pike's Place, great Asian food, and and the monorail. Another amazing thing about Seattle, though is two abbreviated words.
SCI. FI.
The science fiction museum in Seattle Washington has everything from Star wars, to Star trek, to "planet of the apes." Every Sci Fi lover will love this place, with whole sections on many popular and famous movies that have been everyone's favorites. You can even donate money to the movie you like the best that goes towards fixing or adding new things to that subject. One section talks about famous Sci Fi writers, like Ray Bradbury (who, by the way, has written some very awesome stories!)
the Sci Fi museum has real props from the movies, brief descriptions and facts about each movie, and pictures and props that make you fall in love with these spectacular movies!!
I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that you will love this museum the second you walk in!
But wait, there's more! There's also the rock museum in the same building, that has a whole section on Jimi Hendrix and showcases outfits worn by many famous girl pop groups of the 60's-including the supremes. Lots of other things too, that is hard to explain...you just gotta see it for yourself!(like a section on "smells like teen spirit" which is one of the great songs before 2000!)I have to say I learned more than a few facts about both Sci Fi and rock- I even found a favorite song by Jimi Hendrix, "Valleys of Neptune" (which I am absolutely obsessed with!)
I really do hope i can go back to Seattle, and not just for the Sci Fi/rock museum but for everything else! And, if you do happen to see it for yourself, comment below and write about your experience!

Great songs Before 2000

SOME SONGS can be boring, stupid, annoying, or just plain bad! Some, on the other hand, can be so great you know all the lyrics, and sing it day after day after day after day after day after day.....yeah, you must get the point by now. But my favorite songs before the year 2000? These are some of the best ever, that many people have loved for some time now.....

1. Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana you've got to love it! Said to be the #1 song of the 1990's by Vh1, Smells like Teen Spirit, with the catchy beat, and lyrics that are still cool even though you can't exactly understand what they are saying..... is just one amazing song that people will definitely love forever.

2. Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice lyrics that are so amazing, you'll WANT to memorize the whole song! Some of the words include "poisonous mushroom" , a very random sentance that I'm surprised even got into a song. my personal favorite line is "turn off the lights- and I'll glow" It's just SO GREAT!!

I've decided to try and add a favorite song before the year 2000 each week, so tune in next week (or before that to read other posts) to find out another song that i absolutely love!!!!!!! Before the second millennium, of course.....!

Penny from Heaven by Jennifer L. Holm

"It's 1953, and 11 year old Penny's summer is turning out to be full of unpleasant surprises. Penny dreams of a summer of butter pecan ice cream, swimming, and baseball. But nothings that simple. For starters, she can't go swimming because her mother's afraid she'll catch polio at the pool. To make matters worse, her favorite uncle is living in a car. Her nonny cries every time her father's name is mentioned. And the two sides of her family aren't speaking to each other!
On top of it all, Penny's mother is dating the milkman. When it rains, it sure does rain, but Penny's learning that, like the song says......even the darkest clouds may contain pennies from heaven."
(summary of "Penny from Heaven", on back of book)
I absolutely love this book, and i recommend this book for girls and women of all ages who love some historical fiction and realistic fiction. I give this book 5 stars!

King of the Hill

Many people these days do not know about this show from the 90's (and still showing now)- it shows on channel 57 at 9:00 pm each night, which could explain why people do not know about it.
It is about a man named Hank Hill, living in the small town of Arlen, Texas. Hank works as a propain sellar and is a dad of 13 year old son bobby, a husband to a wife and neighbor to a few crazy neighbors he spends most of his mornings with, discussing their news for the week and what's up with the economy these days.
Hank learns how life can be different in many ways, and what things he encounters as each day goes on. From dealing with his obnoxious neighbors to surviving his wife's store shopping to helping Bobby deal with life, this show is basically about an average 50- year old man and what goes on in, well, a 50 year old man's life.
Everyone can relate to this show, whether you are a thirteen year old, a 50 year old man or women, or even people of ages in between.I like how this show shows the differences between lives of people, and i know i will be spending MANY more nights watching King of the Hill on TV.
I give this show 5 stars!

Glee

Glee- we all know what it is, from the lovers to the haters of this popular show. This TV show on channel 6, on Tuesday, started last year, and has continued this year for the second season.
A group of "loser" high-schoolers come together to sing different songs while dealing with other personal things at the same time. Although glee club has made a horrible reputation for themselves, everyone, from the football players to the "smarty pants", continues with Glee for the fun of it- even though Glee makes their life horrible.
Popular characters like Rachel, Puck, Finn, Quinn, Mercedes, Arte, Kurt, and Santana sing many songs, both old (like "bohemian rhapsody" by Queen) and new (like "No Air" by Jordin Sparks.)
I think glee has really introduced younger people to older songs that they would not have known otherwise (they love the oldies now!) and older citizens now know songs from, well, now.
It's fun to see what happens on each episode of glee, whether they have a "Madonna" episode, a "Brittany Spears" episode, a "Lady Gaga" episode, or just a normal episode filled with awesomeness that has a theme of the day.
GO GLEEKS!
I give this show 4.8 stars!

California gurls by Katy Perry ft. Snoop Dogg

I mean really- who doesn't like this song? SURE, the message isn't that great, but you don't care about the lyrics when you hear how great the song is. As soon as you hear the first sentance of the song, said by snoop dogg, BAM! you are mesmerized by the songs catchy beat and smooth lyrics. And you have to admit, snoop dogg's rap is pretty good for a fourty-something year old.
The thing is, how does the music video of California gurls have anything to do with California? or girls? i would defenitly say that jumping around candyland has nothing to do with "sipping juice underneath the palm trees" or "nothing comes close to the golden coast"
As for the song though, i give California gurls ONE ZILLION STARS for being one of my favorite songs of the summer. No, make that year!I hope that Katy Perry and Snoop dogg decide to do another song together, because of the sucsess of California girls, so hopefully they do!
I give this song 4 stars!

Avatar by James Cameron

This is one great movie that i give 4.5 stars, about a man in the future who has to fight whether to stay on the side of the humans or the Navi, the native 9 foot tall, blue people of the planet Pandora. Some main characters of the story are Jake Sully, the main character, and Neytiri, a Navi woman who falls in love with Jake. James Cameron's wonderful tale really draws the audience into this 2 hr 40 minute movie and is well worth seeing. Other movies by James Cameron include Titantic, of 1997, and many more movies that have been top rated. i recommend Avatar to any one who loves action, a bit of romance, and has a strong imagination. And better yet, see this movie in 3-D for an even more magical view of 2009's Avatar.
